Meet Frosted’s NEW General Manager : Valerie Olivarez
With Owner, Nuance Stone, facing maternity leave, the hunt for a Manager began.
Considerations were made in both hiring an outside manager and hiring one from within.
Throughout our search, one employee stood out as being trustworthy, a willing leader,
and a quick learner. After much time and thought, we have chosen Valerie Olivarez as
the new General Manager of FROSTED.
Valerie was born and raised in the tiny town of Idalou, Texas. Valerie soon followed her
dreams to Houston to attend the International Culinary School of Houston, specializing in
baking and pastry. Cooking had been a child hood pastime that she shared with her
entire family. After graduation, she worked at Brennan’s of Houston as a pastry cook,
where she excelled and realized her passion for pastry, and that this was the road she
would follow. In October of 2010 Valerie began as an intern at Frosted Custom Cakes &
Specialty Sweets, quickly gaining a position as a cookie decorator. Soon after, Valerie
was able to become one of the most involved employees while spending time baking, as
well as decorating cakes in addition to her cookie decorating. With a slightly twisted
sense of humor, and a mind for business, Valerie was chosen to be Nuance’s right hand,
and new leader of the Frosted crew.
“As much as it pains me to know I will be away from Frosted for a while, I couldn’t be
happier knowing that Valerie will be here in my absence. She loves Frosted and I know
she will run it in a way that is fitting to our values and goals. I know once you get to know
Valerie, you will all be as happy as I am that she will be here while I am away.” - Nuance
